What is Disco Dance Music, And Where Did It Begin?

Disco music is a genre of music which contains the elements of funk, soul, & pop. It started in the US in the mid-1960s, and its popularity rose in the mid-1970s. The term disco was coined from a French word, discotheque, which means library of phonograph records. It is around the same time DJ's (disc jockey's) became popular . Disco music gained increased popularity with the release of the movie Saturday Night Fever and album soundtrack. The disco era lasted through the mid 1980's
